Greentag uses mass media to raise public awareness on food wastage avoidance issues

Greentag also contributes to the GreenCook project via a range of media interventions aimed at the general public. French famous news broadcast "Envoyé Spécial", documentaries and other broadcasts… The primary aim is always to raise awareness among companies and consumers to the issue linked with food waste and food wastage avoidance.

The appalling reality of food waste is practiced by individuals as much as by school canteens and supermarkets and it has an undeniable financial and ecological impact. Guillaume Barthélémy carried out an investigation of various perpetrators to find out the reasons for this waste. The resulting report, called "Gaspillage alimentaire : plongée dans nos poubelles" ("Food waste: Dive into our bins"), was partly filmed at Greentag and led to an Envoyé Spécial broadcast on France 2 on 10 November 2011. Taste the Waste

Greentag also participated in the making of “Taste the Waste” in 2011. This documentary film by Valentin Thum deals with food waste on a global scale and suggests ways of opposing it. In the film, Thomas Pocher, president of the Greentag agency, indicates his recommendation for buying foods with a low carbon footprint. Supported by a wealth of alarming statistics, the film certainly leaves an impression. For instance we learn that the amount of food thrown away in Europe would be enough to feed all the people currently suffering famine around the world twice over. How could one fail to feel concerned? The film “Taste the Waste” was also awarded 1st prize in the “Environment & Health” category at the 2012 International Health Film Festival. Conscious of the growing importance of consumer awareness in the fight against food waste, Greentag is currently working on other programmes aimed at the general public for French channels France 5 and Canal, as well as internal broadcasts, in particular for the Red Cross Convention of 2011.
